Crowned Lemurs are named for their crown-like colored head patches. These lemurs are cathemeral, which means they remain active during both the day and night. They are arboreal (tree-dwelling), moving through the canopy to obtain fruits, leaves and nectar. Crowned Lemurs show the strongest sexual dimorphism among lemur species: females are primarily grey, while males have a more orange-brown color. This specimen was mounted from a male lemur named Seker who died of natural causes at the Duke Lemur Center.
