Gypsum is one of the softest minerals and can thus take on many forms under the right growth conditions. The unusual shape of this specimen is known as a “ram’s horn”. As the long crystals were slowly precipitated out of saturated waters, the cluster shifted and twisted. The end product is this unique curled specimen.
