This platypus is one of the more exotic specimens in the Bruce Museum Collection. One of the only living monotremes, the platypus reproduces by laying eggs. In earlier times, the Bruce sought to acquire all manner of natural history specimens, leading to an eclectic collection with many surprising components. A perfect example, this platypus specimen was mounted in 1946 in England and found its way into the Bruce Museum as a gift.
